Ungarisch-chinesisch-deutsche „Art Clinic“ in Budapest eröffnet

Am Wochenende des 13./14. Mai wurde im Rahmen des Budapester „Spring Festivals“ die „First Aid-Art Clinic“ im Bartok-Distrikt (11. Bezirk) eröffnet. Das in fast fünfmonatiger Vorbereitung realisierte Kunstprojekt entstand aus einer organisatorisch-operativ und kuratorisch ungewöhnlichen Kooperation der Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) Beijing, der Eleven Blokk-Kunststiftung Budapest und des IKMW Berlin. Als hybrides Format aus „Distance Curating“, digiloger Feldforschung und konkreter physischer Umsetzung in fünf Orten avancierte „Art Clinic“ zu einem erfolgreichen, vom Publikum stark frequentierten Kunstereignis und zugleich zu einem vorbildhaften und kreativen Modell internationaler Kooperationsmöglichkeiten in pandemischen Zeiten. Nach diesen ermutigenden Erfahrungen und Ergebnissen werden weitere Projekte dieser Art und in der Konstellation Budapest-Berlin-Beijing folgen.

Die insgesamt 10 Nachwuchskuratorinnen aus China und Ungarn entwickelten ausgehend von der Grundidee, dass Kunst heile, eine auf fünf Stationen festgelegte Narration: „Show Your Wound“, „Land of Demons“, „Cross the Boarder, Ferryman“, „Wonderland Cythera“ sowie „Paradise: Arcadia“. Mit ungarischen und chinesischen Künstlern wird ein Weg von der Verletzung zur finalen Heilung mit unterschiedlichen künstlerischen Formaten dargestellt und erzählt.

Zweiter Open Space-Workshop am Landestheater Tübingen

Nach einem ersten Open Space 2019 kurz vor der Corona-Pandemie hat Achim Müller am Landestheater Tübingen (LTT) am 14. April 2022 unter dem Motto „Zusammen! Das LTT nach Corona“ den zweiten Open Space mit dem gesamten Haus moderiert. Die Open Space-Workshops sind Teil der Organisationsentwicklungsstrategie des Hauses: Gemeinsam mit allen interessierten Mitarbeitern will das LTT die akuten und zukünftigen Herausforderungen bewältigen und dafür Arbeitsalltag wie künstlerisches Profil kontinuierlich weiterentwickeln.

Damit die Anliegen und Initiativen aus dem Open Space in Strategien und Maßnahmen münden, wurden die Ergebnisse und ihre Umsetzung mit einer Lenkungsgruppe mit Vertretern aus allen Bereichen des Hauses diskutiert. Erste Aktivitäten, zum Beispiel ein von Mitarbeitern organisierter Tag mit künstlerischem Programm zum Krieg in der Ukraine, wurden bereits angegangen. Und der Prozess geht weiter: Die Eckpunkte des für die nächste Spielzeit avisierten nächsten Entwicklungsworkshops wurden bereits abgesteckt.

Eine DaF-Dokutheater-Aufführung  und neue Beiträge für die VR-Ausstellung

Die Schülerinnen und Schüler aus der PASCH-Schule Millenium i Treti (MIT) in Pristina, Kosovo, wurden mit vielfältigen Kreativ-Aufgaben auf eine ‘phantastische’ Zeitreise aus dem Jahr 2220 geschickt. Dabei sammelten sie Impressionen und Materialien, die für Menschen in 200 Jahren vermutlich genauso merkwürdig sein werden wie für uns heute der Anblick einer Draisine. Am Ende der ersten Phase des Projekts mit mehreren Workshops, die Pandemie bedingt ausschließlich online stattfanden, stand eine 360-Grad-VR-Ausstellung, in der die Beiträge in Länder- und Themenräumen online zu besichtigen sind.

Von Beginn an bestand der Wunsch aller Beteiligten – Goethe Institut, Referenten, Lehrerinnen Lehrer, Schülerinnen und  Schüler – darin, das Projekt nach Ende der Covid-Krise oder bei einer besseren Infektionslage im Kosovo um eine analoge Phase zu erweitern. Vorläufer ist eine erste Projektphase im Jahr 2020. In der Fortsetzung ging es darum, die Ideen der Jugendlichen aus dem Vorjahr aufzugreifen, zu vertiefen und das Thema um neue Inhalte zu erweitern. In vielen Beiträgen, die in den Räumen des Online- Museums ausgestellt sind, hatten die Jugendlichen 2020 die Herausforderungen unserer Zeit und mögliche Veränderungen thematisiert. Ausgehend von diesen Materialien, galt es, in den Workshops vor Ort gemeinsam mit Stephan Reischl und Matthias Baumann ein Theaterstück zu entwickeln und auf die Bühne zu bringen. Das in mehreren internationalen Projekten (auch mit Schülerinnen und Schülern des MIT im Kosovo bereits erfolgreich umgesetzte Format ‘DaF-Dokutheater’ liefert eine Fülle an sprachlichen und motivierenden Impulsen und ist eine ideale Grundlage, um auch die medialen Beiträge der Schülerinnen und Schüler in die Aufführung einzubauen.

Die Abschlussperformance am ODA-Theater in Pristina wurde aufgezeichnet und ist nunmehr in Ausschnitten ebenso wie die entstandenen Beiträge in den Räumen des VR-Museum zu besichtigen.

Das IKMW gestaltet den Veränderungsprozess „TUP der Zukunft“ der Theater und Philharmonie (TUP) Essen mit. Bereits in der Spielzeit 2020/21 hatten Mitarbeiter aus allen Bereichen der TUP Essen Vorschläge zu zehn Bereichen erarbeitet, in denen das TUP neu ausgerichtet werden sollte. Vom IKMW begleitet werden aus diesen Vorschlägen bis Sommer 2022 konkrete Maßnahmen- und Umsetzungspläne erarbeitet und in die Weiterentwicklung der TUP Essen und in Anträge für entsprechende Förderprogramme des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen einfließen.

Durch Moderation und Beratung bei den Arbeits- und Endscheidungsprozessen sowie durch Mitarbeit am Förderantrag an das Land Nordrhein Westfalen unterstützt das IKMW Berlin die TUP Essen bei ihrer Mission, ein Modell für ein Theaterhaus der Zukunft zu werden.

Impact study for EU-funded cooperation project REAL IN

IKMW will perform a mixed-method research project for the international ccoperation project REAL IN, with partners in Avignon, Barcelona, Hamburg, Milano und Marseille. The study will provide an analysis of the impact of new Extended Reality-applications in different art genres and creative industries sectors developed by interdisciplinary teams on visitors and users – together with a documentation of aesthetic, organisational/managerial and technologic success factors.

Wirkungsstudie zu EU-geförderten Kooperationsprojekt REAL IN

In dem internationalen Kooperationsprojekt REAL IN mit Partnern in Avignon, Barcelona, Hamburg, Mailand und Marseille wird das IKMW die Wirkung von in interdisziplinären Teams neuentwickelten Extended Reality-Anwendungen auf Nutzer und Besucher in verschiedenen Künsten untersuchen und die inhaltlich-ästhetischen, organisational-managerialen wie technologischen Erfolgsvoraussetzungen dokumentieren.

Kooperationsprojekt Beijing-Berlin-Budapest beschlossen

Kurz vor Weihnachten wurde das multimediale Hauptseminar „Curated City: Abut Art, Urban Space and Public Interest“ an der Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) im Masterstudiengang „Arts Management“ erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Das interdisziplinäre und praxisorientierte 30-stündige Lehrprogramm schloss mit Achim Müller und Daniel Ongjerth erstmals zwei Projektleiter des Berlin-Budapest/St. Margereten Kulturentwicklungsprojektes ein.

Aus dem Seminar heraus bildete sich ein achtköpfiges „CAFA Collective“, das in die Programmentwicklung in Budapest eingebunden wird, und bei der Umsetzung spezieller Online-Kulturangebote helfen wird. Diese experimentelle internationale Projektkooperation fühlt sich organisational wie operativ dem „Lumbung“-Modell des documenta fifteen-Leitungskollektivs „ruangrupa“ verbunden.

Cooperation project Beijing-Berlin-Budapest established

Just before Christmas the multimedia seminar „Curated City: About Art, Urban Space and Public Interest“ in the Master program „Arts Management“ at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) was concluded successfully. With Achim Müller and Dániel Ongjerth the interdisciplinary, practice-oriented course for the first time included two project leaders of the Berlin-Budapest/St. Margareten cultural development project.

An eight-person „CAFA collective“ was formed out of the seminar. It will be integrated in the program development in Budapest and will support in the implementation of customized online offers. The experimental international project cooperation is organized and works in the spirit of the model of the “Lumbung” practiced by “ruangrupa”, the collective conceiving the documenta fifteen.

A language project with the means of cultural and media empowerment in digital space

Cultural and media education in times of the pandemic provides challenges as well as opportunities. This is especially true for cultural and media education projects in interational contexts. The project „Sophie Scholl – (Hi)Stories of Courage“ paradigmatically shows the specific „profit-and-loss-account“: Commissioned by the Goethe Institute Athens and supported by the „Foundation White Rose e.V.“, the project was implemented by Stephan Reischl together with Dagmar Boeck-Siebenhaar, the community dance-choreographer Josef Eder and the media pedagogue Matthias Baumann. Planned as a physical/analogue language camp with youths from ten countries in Southeast Europe, it had to be transformed into a hybrid format because of Covid-19. Yet this at the same time offered the opportunity to step on new paths and to develop a unique multi-months digital pilot project that most probably will be the model for future international projects and workshops.

The IKMW-teamdeveloped extensive material on the project partner and on the topic „social engagement“ as well as on online workshop formats for teachers and school children.

Specifically the two central creative formats DaF(German as Foreign Language)-documentary theater and DaF-dance theater had to be realized in the digital space. From now on the challenge consisted in merging online teaching in digital space with the youths‘ real living and experience space into a hybrid community space.

The project started with a kick-off, with workshops with teachers from PASCH-schools in the region and with a small idea fair where the topic was discussed and the project materials were explained. After this it was up to the school children for the first time: Framed by three questions they were to present in a creative way relevant places, role models and challenges – formulated as a „message to the world – in their corresponding contexts, their cities or countries. All contributions of the „young Southeast European artists“ became the first element of a PASCH-VR-360-degrees-exhibition. Around 300 youths participated in this initial stage.

Subsequently the participants for the digital camp were chosen through a competion. In the camp the youths first worked on  Sophie Scholl and then proceeded to discuss contemporary societal challenges and to highlight perspectives for the future. Original documents – letters, diary entries and quotes – provided the basis for first linguistic artistic teamworks across country borders. It was fascinating to experience how the PASCH-school children, prepared through a daily „online dance warm-up“, introduced their various talents into the development of works for the exhibition spaces: As „dancers“, „musicians“, „actors“, „film producers“ or „audio drama producers“ they worked together in teams, using Zomm as well as multiple othe online tools for their creative exchange.

A „world premiere“ is waiting at the end of the project: the first VR-exhibition in the history of PASCH. The „Southeast Europe“ department of the newly established VR-360-Degree-Musem presents its visitors a host of „language-artworks“ in different formats. The „South America“ department shall be online starting End of November 2021.

With their potentials with respect to sustainability and costs this kind of hybrid cultural and media education formats will be part of the future also in post-pandemic times. IKMW will proceed on this path and will further develop and expand technological, didactical, artistical, aesthetic and content-related aspects of these formats.

On September 26 2021 the hommage to Beuys „Ausfegen/Sweeping Up“ opened the Budapest Autumn festival of culture. The action/exhibition transfers Beuys‘ idea of a ritual sociopolitical „sweeping up“ to present-day Budapest. At the same time the project, produced by Dániel Ongjerth and his „Eleven Blokk Foundation“ and Klaus Siebenhaar from IKMW, represents the start of a long-term cooperation between Budapest’s 2nd district  St. Margret, the „Eleven Blokk Foundation“ and the IKMW, aimed at the paradigmatic development of the 2nd district with artistic scientific methods. Working with Beuys‘ ideas of „sweeping up“, „exhibiting“ and „social sculpture“ and with the inclusion and participation of citizens, the development process is to initiate and implement sustainable cultural activities of community building.

As a foundation a study on the district will be realized.Throughout 2022 multiple projects in culture, media and arts are planned. Within the cooperation between Berlin and Budapest they will be realized with local partners and citizens. A cooperation agreement between IKMW, the „Eleven Blokk Foundation“ and the district government has already been signed. In addition the IKMW plans to establish an independent branch office in Budapest.
